Top Six Tattoo Picks: Terrible Terrible Things / Ogie Tattooer

This week, Blunt Magazine launches the aptly titled Blunt Mag Tattoo Podcast. Hosted by tattoo artist Louie Tattooie, BMTP is a series which dives deep into the philosophy of tattooing featuring some of the industries most prolific identities. For Episode 1, Louie invites the mysterious Terrible Terrible Things AKA Ogie Tattooer AKA Ogie Yildirancan.

We have a habit in Australia of describing things by what they aren’t – it’s not cold, things aren’t bad, and stuff’s not wrong. And so it’s very fitting that the tattoo stylings of Ogie are described as ‘ignorant’, a label he himself embraces, because in reality, his work is anything but.

Political, socially conscious and largely nihilistic, Ogie uses his dueling personalities as a vehicle to explore areas of tattooing that, until now, have been largely uncharted.

A true student of his craft, Ogie has meandered through the world absorbing wisdom and experience throughout Europe and his native Turkey, before bringing his new-found skills and understanding of tattooing to Sydney, Australia where he set up shop at Rozelle’s Hand In Hand studio.

Ogie was good enough to retrace his steps, walking us through his road to becoming one of the most recognised and in demand artists currently weidling a needle. And judging by the below choice picks of his work, it’s really no surprise.

Join us weekly on Thursdays at 4:20pm AEDT for the next instalment of The Blunt Mag Tattoo Podcast.
