Olivia O’Brien teams up with Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes for new track

It’s a shame to look back at how much was gatekept in music’s past, as genres became steadfast binds on artists being able to get creative. Alas, we’ve moved on from those times, which is proven today with Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes jumping on a track with rising pop icon Olivia O’Brien. ‘No More Friends’ comes to us off O’Brien’s EP, Episodes: Season 1.

Speaking on the narrative that underpins the track, O’Brien shares her exhaustion with being tied up in non-relationships. “I am so tired of guys telling me they want to keep me around as a friend just so they can feel better about being an asshole. Or maybe they want to keep me on the hook just in case they change their mind. I refuse to stick around for someone who thinks of me as just an option.” She continues: “I’m not trying to say that I am miss popular over here with too many friends to keep track of…I just don’t have the energy to be ‘friends’ with people who I didn’t ever have the intention of being friends with.”

Sykes was stoked to jump on the track, adding that he “had a blast” working on it with O’Brien and recommending her new record on the basis that “it’s hard af.” Fans have been waiting with baited breath for some further news to come from the Bring Me The Horizon camp soon, as the rock heavyweights made their intentions clear after releasing Post Human: Survival Horror last year that they would continue a series of EPs. That drop saw collaborations with everyone we could have ever wanted, including Nova Twins, Yungblud, Babymetal and Evanescence’s Amy Lee.

Olivia O’Brien’s Episodes: Season 1 EP is out now.
