Welcome to The Fresh Squeeze, where every week, BLUNT gets down to the wire with an up-and-coming act we simply can’t get enough of.
In this week’s shiny new edition, we get the juice on Turkish pop-punk duo Hipersona, who made their English-language debut earlier this year with the bold and buoyant ‘Wanna Say It’. They quickly followed up with two more belters, ‘Young & Wild’ and ‘Satellite’, and have a whole slate of energetic tunes on the horizon. And if you’re down to have a bop in Turkish, the girls also have an EP and suite of singles sprawling back to 2019.
Who’s in your band, what do they play, and what would be your non-musical superpowers?
Bengisu: Wazzupp BLUNT <3 I play bass guitar and do back-vocals. Actually, I have got a superpower. Sometimes I feel Bilge’s feelings and thoughts. We are twin sisters 😛 (Not kidding :D)
Bilgesu: Hey everyone! I do vocals and play guitar. I have got a superpower, too. I can sleep for 18 hours. It’s really super huh? 😛
When you’re not tearing shit up on your instruments, what do you legends like to get up to?
Bengi: I work on my masters’ thesis about optical fiber technology and then cry. 😛
Bilge: I sleep. Told ya 😛 Just kidding. I love walking in the streets with listening to music. Honestly, we don’t have much free-time. You can find us in our studio everytime.
What would your hometown’s landmark be?
We’re from Ankara, the capital city of Turkey. Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s Mauseloum) is in here. The greatest landmark.
What’s the usual first topic of conversation when you take a break at rehearsal?
Our studio is quite small and it gets really hot once we start rehearsing. When we take a break, it always goes like “Its freakin hot” “I can’t breathe” “Open the door please” “We should buy a fan”. But then we don’t buy 😛 Also we really love watching silly videos with together.
What’s your pre-show warm-up routine?
Bengi: I’m always nervous before the show (“Don’t mess with me” mood :P) so I try to get myself calm.
Bilge: Just some vocal warm ups and goofy things with my twin.
Tell us about your most memorable show, what made it so special?
Our first concert is unforgettable for us. In our previous band, we only played guitar. Singing on stage was really different and scary.
What band would you most like to share the stage with and why?
Bengi: I freakin love BTS. We even covered their song ‘Butter’ as a pop punk song. It’d be perfect that rocking with them.
Bilge: FOO FIGHTERS FAN GIRL ALERT!!!! Dave Grohl is my hero. I got a tattoo of “Times Like These”. I’d to sing it with him.
What’s the most exciting album you’ve listened to recently?
Bengi: YUNGBLUD – weird!
Bilge: Halsey – If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. When I heard that producer is Trent Reznor, I got so excited.
If you could be endorsed by one company, who would it be?
Bengi: Orange Amps. CAN YOU HEAR ME ORANGE AMPSSSSS? 😊
Bilge: Definitely Gibson.
Why are you going to make it to the top over all the other contenders in the musical arena?
Cuz’ we know we have got that power. We always work hard for our dreams no matter what happens. Two young twin girls wanna make people feel happier and more energetic. We’re gonna make it with our youth and raw energy and show people that “POP PUNK IS NOT DEAD”!
