Update (27/03): Dream Theater have come good on their word to reschedule their aforementioned Australian tour dates after postponing the initial run due to COVID-19 concerns. The new dates are listed below.
Prog luminaries Dream Theater are celebrated throughout the land as titans. The Grammy-nominated act have announced today, oh this day of days, that they’ll bring their magic down under with a tour in April, and it’s an ‘Evening With Dream Theater’ party that you don’t want to miss out on.
Not only will the set feature tracks from Dream Theater’s latest long-playing offering, Distance Over Time, it also marks a special occasion – the 20th anniversary of their seminal album Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From a Memory. The preliminary legs of the tour have seen the band perform sets clocking just under three hours, a truly extensive celebration of their tenure and achievements.
Guitarist John Petrucci commented that the band have seen an “overwhelmingly positive” response to their last record.
He adds Dream Theatre are “really looking forward to playing some of the songs from that album live for our European audiences in an ‘Evening With’ setting along with our full headlining show production. For those of you who were there when we premiered Scenes From A Memory live in Europe 20 years ago, this will not only be a trip down memory lane but also the chance to see it presented in a completely new light and the way it was always intended to be.”
“Our updated presentation has all-new animated video content depicting the characters and storyline through the entire show as they’ve never been ‘scene’ before! For those of our fans who were either not born yet, too young, or had not yet been introduced to DT 20 years ago, this will be a fresh opportunity to experience Scenes live for the first time in its entirety. We can’t wait to perform for all of you!”
