Leaked clip appears to show Andrew Garfield on ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ set

While we won’t go as far as to say this is a confirmation, we’re pretty comfortable going with the language that this is certainly a promising development. A leaked clip posted to Twitter appears to show the involvement of Andrew Garfield (2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man) in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, showing the man himself all suited up and hanging precariously in front of a blue screen on set.

The clip might be mere seconds long, but that is exactly the amount of time we need to get sufficiently stoked on the confirmation. Word that not just Garfield would reprise his role for the next instalment of the web-slinging live-action franchise has been doing the rounds for some time, however his noticable absense on the recent inaugural trailer for the film was met with a big round of hmm’s as we pondered whether or not the union of Spider-Mens would be happening in the film or not.

What made the news even more muddied was Garfields own admission that he wasn’t going to be in the film, telling Variety in a recent interview, “I understand why people are freaking out about the concept… because I’m a fan as well. You can’t help but imagine scenes and moments of ‘Oh, my God, how f—ing cool would it be if they did that?’” Garfield said. “It’s important for me to say on the record that this is not something I’m aware I am involved in.”

However, in a move we’ve come to expect from such things, Garfield muddied things even more by adding, “I know I’m not going to be able to say anything that will convince anyone that I don’t know what’s happening,” he continued. “No matter what I say, I’m f—ed. It’s either going to be really disappointing for people or it’s going to be really exciting.”

It’s very curious the Variety interview and the leaked clip appeared on the internet within hours of each other. It’s also entirely likely the clip is a deep fake as, well, plenty of people who concern themselves with such things have plenty of time on their hands.

As well as the heavily anticipated return of the O.G live-action Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire, Spider-Man: No Way Home will also feature Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx is also heavily tipped to be reprising his role as Electro.

Now, we sit back and let the internet slueths do the hard work.
