We’ve known for a hot minute that alternative music is one of Australia’s leading exports to the world, and now, thanks to Amazon Music, a line-up of Australian talent will be given the global stage that they deserve as part of a cultural exchange with Rock Scene UK and in the form of a live-streamed concert series.
Pop punkers Stand Atlantic hold pole position in a line-up that also includes DZ Deathrays, The Dead Love, Yours Truly and Waxflower. For their special live-streamed performances, each band will hold court at an iconic locale from around Australia including Max Watt’s Sydney, The Triffid and The Zoo in Brisbane, Wollongong’s 3sixty skate park and Sydney’s Hayden Orpheum cinema.
The concerts will be unfurled before Australian audiences from 6pm AEST Friday, 28th May via an exclusive Twitch live-stream hosted by the Amazon Music UK channel.
“When we were invited by Amazon to be a part of the livestream we really wanted to offer something special and take the show to the next level,” Stand Atlantic’s Bonnie Fraser commented. “We are so psyched to light this baby up and be a part of Rock Scene presents!”
When a corporate titan such as Amazon Music casts its gaze on local artists, the importance cannot be overstated. The move adds incredible oomph to the already stellar rise of the aforementioned artists with the added bonus of providing their hard-working road teams with the opportunity to get back to what they do best – craft unforgettable listening experiences, enjoyed digitally or otherwise.
“Amazon Music is proud to be standing behind Australian music at a time where our global reach can really make a difference when international live touring unfortunately cannot,” says Matt Newton, Australian Honcho at Amazon Music. The move is the latest in a series from Amazon to throw support to local Australian content, with plenty more to come. As such, local bands of Australia, it’s time to get your affairs in order, you never know when Amazon might come knocking.
