Fear of missing out is a curse that Australian music lovers are all too familiar with, and it’s bound to have struck Slipknot devotees as the beloved heavyweights staged their own music festival, Knotfest, overseas. Luckily for us, the day has finally come that Aussies are no longer the ones watching from the outside, with the international faves announcing that Knotfest will take place right here in March of 2023.
Described as a music and counterculture experience, the multi-platinum act will run Knotfest at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse, Sydney’s Centennial Park and Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds. But Slipknot aren’t the only attraction for punters. While naturally they’re the headline attraction, the line-up is stacked, featuring Parkway Drive, Megadeth, Trivium, Northlane, Amon Amarth, In Flames, Knocked Loose, Spiritbox, Story of the Year, Alpha Wolf, Void of Vision, Bad Omens and Malevolence (yes, you read that right). Collating an archive of items from the industry-transforming history of Slipknot, the Knotfest Museum will also be making its way down under alongside your favourite bands.
Slipknot released their seventh studio album, The End, So Far, last month. In traditional Slipknot style, it landed another #1 on the official album charts in Australia (their fourth in a row). Earlier in the month Parkway Drive earned the same accolade with their seventh studio album Darker Still, and fans will get to celebrate both releases with the respective artists on the same day come March of next year.
