UNIFY Gathering 2016 Is Coming

The weather’s getting warmer and the 2016 summer music festivals are nearly upon us. Kicking things off for the year will be UNIFY Gathering, boasting a bigger and crazier line-up than we ever could have hoped for. Sporting a tremendous 16 bands, the festival will roll into Gippsland for two days of top-notch Aussie punk, metal and hardcore with Byron Bay metalcore lords Parkway Drive, their neighbours In Hearts Wake, and Sydney pop-punkers Tonight Alive leading the pack. There’s even a bit of international love on the bill, with New York pop-punk crew State Champs, hardcore shredders Stray From The Path and Welsh boys Neck Deep set to tear shit up over the weekend. Next year’s fest will also mark the final Victorian show for iconic Aussie hardcore band Confession, with the band having recently announced that they’ve called it quits.

This will be the second incarnation of UNIFY Gathering, after an incredibly successful first run in January of this year. Alongside face-melting performances from The Amity Affliction, Northlane, In Hearts Wake and Thy Art Is Murder, to name a few, the outing also featured mini golf, late night cinema, human-sized board games, and of course, the musical stylings of DJ Sandstorm. All of them will be present in 2016, as will the free camping, BYO dranks (though there’ll be themed bars and cocktails too), and heaps of food trucks to get your post-mosh shame-feast on at. On top of that, you’ll be able to battle your friends in the life-sized foosball rink and snag some goodies at the 24Hundred “Garage Sale”. Still notable as Australia’s only overnight celebration of heavy music, next year’s jaunt also looks to expand the festivities with the capacity increased from 3,000 to 5,000.
