Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 are getting a remaster coming this September

On his 52nd birthday, legendary self-dubbed ‘Skateboard Man’ Tony Hawk gave a gift to us instead. The icon generously announced today that his original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games would see a complete remaster. The first and second entries in the series will be available on September 4, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 4K and HDR. Hawk thanked the fans of the series in his proclamation for “keeping this dream alive”.

The remastered collection is set to feature updated visuals, extra challenges and a brand new online multiplayer mode. Custom parks are in, and are promised to be better than ever. But don’t be afraid – it will retain its original magic with its historical levels, characters, tricks and music. The roster from the original game will also return, including Steve Caballero, Geoff Rowley, Bucky Lasek, Elissa Steamer, Kareem Campbell, Andrew Reynolds, Bob Burnquist, Eric Koston, Rodney Mullen, Jamie Thomas, Rune Glifberg and Chad Muska.

You can drop your coffee, bow down and kiss the feet of Vicarious Visions for the remaster, the same people who blessed us with the refresh of the ultimate childhood nostalgia experience, the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. This will be the first instalment in the Pro Skater series since 2015 in any case, which was when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 came out.

Take a trip down early 2000’s memory lane with the fresh trailer, which features seminal punk outfit Dead Kennedys’ ‘Police Truck’. We’re promised that the epic collection will see the soundtrack return of Bad Religion, Goldfinger, Millencolin, Papa Roach, Lagwagon, Rage Against The Machine and many, many more, even if not every OG song could be re-used due to licensing. One thing’s for sure in this unusual, crazy pandemic world that 2020 has brought us: come September, we will be playing the fuck out of this.
