UPDATE 16/03: The Hardest 100 official listening parties have been cancelled inline with current health and safety restrictions

Triple j’s iconic Hottest 100 has now come and gone and, if we’re being quite honest, left a lot of heavy music fans – and bands – found wanting. That’s a wrong set to be righted with word of The Hardest 100’s return now spreading throughout the land. As of today, voting for the heavy music countdown is officially open.

Brought to life by your beloved 24/7 online heavy music station, The Faction, the Hardest 100 tasks itself with cataloging the most popular releases of the past year from our world; the world of heavy. Considering 2019 has gone down as one of the greatest years in the annuls of Australian heavy music history, we can expect both a challenging voting process and an incredible final countdown.

Now in its third year, The Hardest 100 is harder then ever before. This year’s edition features a plethora of industry support and two live listening parties – one in Brisbane and another in Sydney co-presented by your faithful team right here at Blunt Magazine.

The Sydney event will be taking place the day after Download Festival, who are officially backing the countdown, offering the perfect remedy for your post-festival blues. Adding even more reason to get involved, those who cast their votes will go into the running to score some sweet, sweet prizes put up by the teams from Download Festival AustraliaUnify Gathering and 24 Hundred.

To give your hot takes on the last year of heavy music the air they deserve, either hit The Faction app or the official Hardest 100 website to register and cast your vote. Voting is open today and will wrap up come Friday the 13th of March 2020 at 5:00pm AEDT sharp.

The countdown will kick off Sunday, 22nd March at midday Sydney time.
