Some harrowing news has come out of Paris, France this morning with reports flooding in that multiple terrorist attacks have led to at least 89 people being killed and dozens more injured at an Eagles Of Death Metal concert.

There have been numerous shootings, explosions and a hostage situation at seven separate locations across Paris, which has prompted French President François Hollande to declare a state of emergency in the city for the first time since 1945. The decision has also been made to close the region’s borders to “make sure that those who committed these crimes can be stopped if they’re trying to leave the territory”.

Police stormed the Bataclan concert hall where explosions and shootings occurred and between 60 and 100 fans were being held hostage at an Eagles Of Death Metal gig. Three of the attackers have been killed, and police have since taken control of the venue. An eye witness who managed to flee the scene reports that “there was blood everywhere and they [the attackers] basically opened fire at the crowd”.

French band Red Lemons, who were on the show’s bill alongside White Miles, took to Facebook and wrote, “For our American and English friends, a terrorist attack happened at the Eagles of Death Metal concert. We are safe. Mikel Ross, Eric McFadden we were with your mates Jesse, Tuesday, the other musicians outside, they’re safe too, they took a cab. Fuck…”

At the Stade de France, where a football game was being played between France and Germany, three explosions were heard near the venue’s entrance and at least three people have been killed, while a gunman opened fire in a Cambodian restaurant in Paris’s 11th arrondissement.

The full extent of the damage is not yet known, but we’ll provide you with more on this tragedy as it unfolds. Keep up-to-date on the events with this live news stream from international news outlet France 24.
