Nostalgia Hype Train Barrels On; Simple Plan Announce East Coast Tour
“Hey dad, look at me, think back and talk to me. Did I grow up according to plan?” We’re gonna take a wild stab in the dark and guess that you probably still know a majority of the words to “Perfect” (even if you’d rather die than admit it and relinquish any “cred” you’ve accumulated in the subsequent years). You’re in good company: we do, too.
In an age where every man and their dog (quite literally) are filling their spare hours with Pokémon and jamming the new Blink-182 record, it should come as no surprise that early ’00s pop-punk frontrunners Simple Plan have announced an Australian east coast tour.
The Canucks will be making their way to Oz for the first time in three years this September, fitting Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne into their Taking One For The Team world tour. While you may have dropped off the bandwagon in recent years, we can’t go past the fact that Still Not Getting Any…, the band’s breakout 2004 album, went double platinum in Australia. What a time!
As an added bonus for anyone looking to snatch up tickets, as well as buying you a night of good-time nostalgia-fuelled sing-a-longs, $1 from every ticket sold on the band’s current world tour will go towards the Simple Plan Foundation, an organisation started by the band to give back and help out young people in need. Since its inception in ’06, the Foundation has donated more than $1.7 million to charitable organisations around the world. Fuck yeah, pop-punk!
The support slot for the three-date run has been nabbed by Sydney pop rockers Forever Ends Here, who’ll be treating crowds to cuts from their debut album, Imagine This, which is set to drop August 29.
Frontier Touring members’ pre-sale – Monday July 18 @ 12pm til Tuesday July 19 @ 12pm.
Tickets are on sale Wednesday July 20th @ 10am.
