Dream On Dreamer to bid farewell with one final record

By On

All good things must come to an end, and today Melbourne post-hardcore mainstays Dream On Dreamer have announced that they will be packing ‘er up; but not before one final hurrah in the form of a farewell album, and nation-wide tour dates.

Dream On Dreamer have announced their final record, the ominously titled What If I Told You It Doesn’t Get Better, which hits shelves – both digitally and otherwise – on Friday, 27th March. Today, the band fire the first warning shot off the record in the form of ‘Feel So Empty’, a volatile number that coaxes you in with the ambient cleans of Zachary Britt, before crushing down on you with a harrowing story of self-destruction, of knowing that you and only you are to blame for your predicament. A story of rock bottom that’s more relatable than this writer is willing to admit in a public-facing write up.

“When we were writing this song I guess it came from a pretty low place. We’ve all been through a lot of shit in the last few years and it’s all manifested its way onto our next release in some way or another”, says Britt of the new single. “I think being in that state of mind needs to be given a name or something to embody it. Some call it their demons. In this song, I named the darkness Reaper. Sometimes we gotta crash and burn all the way to rock bottom before we can push up again. There’s been times I hope to see the bottom. I’ve been ready to look the reaper in the eye and give him this weight. One piece at a time.

In the end if we beat this shit and fight through, the weight is lifted and we can live to see a brighter day.”

After 11 glorious years commanding stages and speakers throughout the land, Dream On Dreamer would be remiss to bid adieu without a final batch of live dates, so naturally, they’ve done just that. You’ll have enough time to get your head around the new record as well.
