Still getting over the fact that Soundwave is a rotting corpse and Legion isn’t moving forward (for this year, at least)? Well, it turns out we might not have to wait too long before we get our mosh on again on a grandiose scale. Download Festival promotor Andy Copping has hinted – though monumentally vaguely – that an Australian edition of the festival may be on the cards.

With no plans confirmed, let alone announced, Copping took to his Twitter to tease that fans Down Under should “watch this space”, urging us not to give up hope toward the future of our heavy festival circuit. Take a peek at his tweets:

For those living cozily under their rock, this year’s incarnation of the UK-based festival features a three-day bill led by every metalhead’s dream squadron: Rammstein, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Disturbed, Deftones… Pretty much, if they shred – and they shred awesomely – they’re on the Download lineup.

With a massive hole in the alternative festival scene left by Soundwave’s demise, and punters still sore from being shorted the Big Day Out, now is the perfect time for a festival like Download to swoop in and secure the market. And if Copping is able to bring lineups this strong to our shores, he’s almost guaranteed instant sell-outs.

2016 marks the first year that the festival will expand from its longstanding stature in England, with an edition of the event taking place in France. We’re not getting our hopes up just yet, but for now, we’re damn excited to see what happens next!

Take a look at this year’s UK Download lineup below!
