Yungblud Announces ‘Part One’ of His New Album Idols Drops June 20

Yungblud has officially announced that the first half of his upcoming double album, Idols will land on June 20.

The Doncaster-born punk whirlwind has been teasing this era for months now. Yungblud’s recently released singles including Hello Heaven, Hello and Lovesick Lullaby have given fans a peak into the project. All round I’d say it looks set to be his most ambitious. Recorded in Leeds, the album is part one of a two-part release described as a “love letter to life in all its fucking madness.”

Speaking on the concept, Yungblud said he wanted to create something with “no limitations”. It’s a sentiment that checks out when you see the tracklist includes titles like Monday Murder and Supermoon. It’s bold, loud, and deliberately personal, diving into themes of self-worth, body image (Zombie), identity and belief in magic. And if that sounds entirely unhinged, it’s because it is. That’s kind of the point here.

“I wanted to make an album that just felt,” he said, rejecting the traditional single-first rollout in favour of a full, conceptual plunge. “We compare ourselves to 15 different people before breakfast. This is a reclamation of self. A love letter to rock music. To madness. To life.”

Alongside Harrison on Idols is longtime guitarist Adam Warrington, with production duties shared between Matti Schwartz and Bob Bradley. There’s Britpop DNA coursing through this thing too. Think Bowie meets Definitely Maybe by way of a mosh pit in Camden.

To celebrate the new era, Yungblud also recently pulled pints for fans at London’s Hawley Arms and previewed unreleased tracks during an intimate Scala gig in March. The project follows his 2022 self-titled album and lands just ahead of the second Bludfest, set to hit Milton Keynes Bowl with Chase Atlantic, Denzel Curry, Blackbear and more.

If this is part one, we’re bracing ourselves for the full breakdown. Pre-orders are live now. Let the chaos begin.
