Slowly Slowly level up Australian headline tour

Since it’s pretty clear that they’re our favourite band right now, we’re stoked to share that Aussie alt darlings Slowly Slowly have extended their planned run of dates this June/July with more shows, bigger venues and a little help from some friends. Sydney labelmates Yours Truly will be hopping on for the ride, set to provide support on each stop of the now 10-date extravaganza.

The tour will mark a milestone for Slowly Slowly, in that they’ll finally be able to celebrate the release of their album Race Car Blues the way that they always intended to. The two-part affair saw its first chapter released on the cusp of the pandemic taking off last year, with the latter half of the record just dropping. Bassist Alex Quayle echoes the sentiment of Slowly Slowly at long last being able to commemorate the occasion of Race Car Blues, commenting: “With RCB being out in the world for over a year now, we’re so eager to finally be able to give this album the tour and live show it deserves.”

Speaking on Race Car Blues – Chapter 2, frontman Ben Stewart asserts that the “ultimate aim for the band” has always been “to celebrate the music we love – anthemic heart on sleeve songwriting – but across a broad range of genres.” In reference to the record, he adds that having “no creative ceiling for this project only pushed that ethos further….Chapter 2 pushes the envelope a little further in every direction – heavier, more pop sensibility and a deeper dive into intimate solo songs.” You’ll get to hear them live in June and July, with details for the full run below.
