Counterparts are heading back to Aussie shores this June, and they’re not holding anything back.
Off the back of their surprise EP Heaven Let Them Die, the Canadian melodic hardcore heavyweights have announced a four-date run, hitting Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and Brisbane. To sweeten the deal, they’re bringing along Portland’s Dying Wish, who’ve been steadily climbing the metalcore ranks in recent years.
Kicking off on 11 June at 170 Russell in Melbourne, this tour promises the kind of emotional chaos Counterparts fans have been waiting for for. Frontman Brendan Murphy says this new EP is their most raw and unfiltered work yet. “It’s us at our most intense—musically, lyrically, and visually,” he explains. If you’re familiar with their knack for blending crushing sounds with deeply introspective lyrics, you already know these shows are going to hit very hard.
Expect a setlist that spans their seven-album career, from A Eulogy for Those Still Here to the fresh chaos of Heaven Let Them Die. Every track, every scream, every riff—it’s all there for you.
Portland’s Dying Wish are also set to add some spice to the billing. The metalcore group, who have been turning heads since their debut with their feral mix of hardcore and metal are certain Tracks from their latest album, Symptoms of Survival, are also practically built for the pit. Plus, if their crushing riffs don’t get you, front woman Emma Boster’s vocals surely will.
With only four dates at fairly intimate venues, I’d say you should lock in tickets fast. Live Nation pre-sales start Thursday, 30 January at 12pm, with general tickets on sale Friday, 31 January at 1pm. Tickets can be accessed here.
