New Trailer Released For Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping

Conner4Real has been dope since birth – well, that’s what the new trailer for Andy Samberg‘s forthcoming mockumentary masterpiece Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping wants us to believe.

Showcasing more of the film’s “dramatic” (a term we’re using very loosely here) elements, the new clip builds upon some of the character introductions and mainstream pop egotisms that the debut teaser welcomed us to. As we’ve established, the film is a perfectly meta send-up of overwrung pop documentaries the likes of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and Katy Perry: Part Of Me.

Produced by Judd Apatow (Trainwreck) and directed by The Lonely Island members Jorma Taccone (MacGruber) and Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod), the film revolves around the rise, demise, even bigger demise, and then… Re-mise(?), of Conner4real, a rapper/singer who takes us through the “crisis of popularity after his sophomore album flops, leaving his fans, sycophants and rivals all wondering what to do when he’s no longer the dopest star of all.”

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping will hit Australian cinemas on August 25th. It hasn’t been rated yet, but we’re willing to bet this isn’t something you’ll want to bring your little sister along to, lest you want to endure her singing “Mona Lisa, you’re an overrated piece of shit” non-stop for three months.
