Chelsea Grin & Currents levelled Liberty Hall in a night of pure mayhem.

Sydney’s Liberty Hall was pure chaos on Saturday night, thanks to a stacked co-headline tour from US heavyweights Chelsea Grin and Currents, and the energy never dipped once.

Local heroes Bloom opened the night with their signature melodic aggression, setting the tone early with tight breakdowns and big singalongs. HEAVENSGATE followed and absolutely blew the roof off, delivering a feral set that felt like a gut punch in the best way possible. Their crowd was moving from the first note and didn’t stop until the lights came up.

Then it was time for Chelsea Grin, and holy hell, did they bring it. Kicking off with Hostage and Sing to the Grave, they barely gave the crowd time to breathe between breakdowns. Frontman Tom Barber delivered every growl like it was his last, stalking the stage with venom while the pit spun into a full-blown war zone.

Newer cuts like The Isnis and Suffer in Hell, Suffer in Heaven hit just as hard as the classics, but it was Recreant and My Damnation that tore the room apart. You could feel the history in those final songs – and the crowd gave it back tenfold.

Currents followed with their signature brand of melodic devastation, opening with Never There and Monsters before launching into a run of emotional wrecking balls like Kill the Ache and Better Days. The band moved like a unit possessed, each track landing with calculated fury and raw heart.

By the time VengeanceA Flag to Wave and Apnea rolled around, the floor was a blur of limbs and screams. Between the sonic assault and the collective catharsis, it was hard to tell where the band ended and the crowd began.

Brutal, emotional and totally unrelenting, this was a night built for diehards – and Sydney showed up ready to bleed for it.
