Korn Are Back With A New Album; Single That’s Actually Pretty Good

Nu metal is cool again and Korn don’t suck: we have officially come full circle as a species.

Following a handful of unforgivably shit albums (yes, The Path Of Totality actually happened – this writer loved it at the time of release. No ragrets), the OG Californian shred-heads seem to have had their inevitable epiphany and are now making top-notch tunes again. Don’t believe us? Check out the gory new clip – starring Sons Of Anarchy actor Tommy Flanagan – for their quasi-comeback single “Rotting In Vain”.

“‘Rotting in Vain’ was written about being in that black place, being in situations that I don’t like in life – be it relationships, or feeling when you’re stuck and you’re just being abused or you don’t like where you’re at, and you just sit there and rot,” says frontman Jonathan Davis. “It takes you years and years to figure out how to claw your way out. That’s where ‘Rotting in Vain’ came from. I’m just sitting there, fucking dying and letting it happen for years and years and not helping myself to get out of that place. That’s the vibe that inspired the song.”

The single comes as our first taste from Korn’s forthcoming twelfth (!!) studio album, The Serenity Of Suffering – which also contains a track featuring Slipknot scream lord Corey Taylor. For those who’ve rekindled their love for the nu metal maniacs (see: BLUNT), you can get your hands on a copy when the opus drops on October 21st. In the meantime, we’re just gonna go ahead and set “Rotting In Vain” on an endless loop. Cheers.
