Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is getting its own festival this week in the from of THPS Fest, featuring iconic artists from the soundtrack and a first look at gameplay.
With the remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 officially dropping on July 11, Activision is cranking the nostalgia dial straight into the pit. To celebrate the return of one of the greatest franchises in gaming history, they’ve teamed up with Goldenvoice and AEG to launch a full-blown music festival – THPS Fest.
Happening Thursday, May 8 at LA’s El Rey Theatre, THPS Fest will throw down with artists who’ve soundtracked ollies, rail grinds, and kickflips for two decades. Hardcore legends The Adolescents will tear through “Amoeba,” a track burned into the memory of every PS2 survivor.
Lupe Fiasco is in the mix too, bringing “Kick, Push” energy from Downhill Jam into the now, alongside Danny Brown, who’s making his franchise debut with tracks in the new remake.
Also on the bill: San Diego punks Urethane, led by none other than pro skater Steve Caballero, Bones Brigade OG, and longtime Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater mainstay. Their song “Dog Years” is also making its franchise debut in Pro Skater 3+4.
No word yet on public ticket access, but the show will livestream on the official Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Twitch channel starting at 6PM PST on May 8 – which for Aussies shakes out to about 11AM AEST, May 9. Whether you’re there in the pit or vibing from your couch, this one’s for anyone who ever memorised a Warehouse line or blew out their thumbs chasing a 900.
