You Me At Six issue statement regarding dropping off “Mix N Mash” tour

May 5th, 2011 by Kelly | 4 Comments | Filed in Tour News

In bad news for fans, both You Me At Six and Bleeding Through have had to drop off Parkway Drive’s upcoming “Mix N Mash” tour, also featuring The Wonder Years and Confession. Ohio metalcore act Miss May I have been tagged as a replacement with local acts filling the opening slots nation-wide. Blunt managed to catch Miss May I at SXSW in Texas a few weeks ago and was suitably impressed with their mix of thrash and breakdowns. Think Darkest Hour and As I Lay Dying and you’d be close.

You Me At Six’s affable frontman Josh Franceschi, understandably bummed at the situation, has sent Blunt a statement about the band’s decision to withdraw from the tour. You can read it below.

So, let me start with an apology to all of our Australian fans. We’ve never, ever pulled out of a tour, in our whole 5 year career. It’s something we swore we’d never do unless there was a family bereavement, as we want to be known as the type of band that when they commit to something, do their up most not to let people down. Now, there are other ‘political’ esq reasons that I don’t want to go into, that involve our label and us trying to record our album. That’s the industry. That said, since we’ve been in Los Angeles I’ve had quite a few health problems, that at times, have been quite worrying. There’s been days where I’d go into studio and nothing come out. I’ve been in out of bed feeling really shit, my chest was so bad, that it got to the point I was in hospital. As a result, we’re behind on recording which has meant we’ve had to extend our recording process, which means we’ll be missing the PWD tour, we’re not trying to make excuses, just trying to be real with you. We’re in the midst of trying to get this record back on track, and get it finished! We’re also currently in talks with promoters about coming over to do a headline tour in September with some insane bands. We will make this up to you AUS! We’re gutted we can’t be there with you all and will no longer get to play with our brothers in Parkway Drive. We’ll see you in September. Josh, YMA6
