Violent Soho Mash Silversun Pickups Up With Nirvana For Like A Version
Fuck yeah, it’s Friday!
Brissy grunge-lords Violent Soho kicked off the pre-kend in top fashion today, taking over triple j for their Like A Version debut. Their tune of choice was a smoky run-through of Silversun Pickups‘ 2006 jam, “Lazy Eye”, mashed up – well, okay, not ‘mashed up’ per se, but more introduced – with a snippet of the opening riff from Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.
It was definitely one of the stranger takes we’ve heard from Like A Version in recent times, but hey, once the foursome found their footing, they absolutely crushed it. They also knocked out their latest single, “No Shade”, which there’s basically just no way in hell we could criticise.
For those still not cradling tickets like a newborn, Violent Soho are heading off on their biggest headline tour ever this month, hitting arenas in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth with The Bronx, Luca Brasi and Tired Lion in tow!
Take a look at Violent Soho’s take on “Lazy Eye” below!
