The Lonely Island’s Movie Trailer Is Even More Hilarious Than You’d Expect

Screen Shot 2016-03-11 at 8.30.19 PM

If there’s only one lowbrow Hollywood comedy you watch this year, make it Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping partially because it’s essentially a 90-minute “fuck you” to the mainstream pop factory industry, but also because it actually looks pretty goddamn hilarious.

Produced by Judd Adapatow (Trainwreck) and directed by Lonely Island members Jorma Taccone (MacGruber) and Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod), the film revolves around the rise, demise, even bigger demise, and then… Re-mise(?), of Conner4real (played by fellow Lonely Islander Andy Samberg), a rapper/singer who takes us – with the magic of the mockumentary format – through the “crisis of popularity after his sophomore album flops, leaving his fans, sycophants and rivals all wondering what to do when he’s no longer the dopest star of all.”

A send-up of cringeworthy auto-biopics the likes of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and Katy Perry: Part Of MePopstar: Never Stop Never Stopping will be released in the US on June 3rd, with a domestic release to follow. A red band (NSFW) trailer for the film was released today, and teases cameos from pretty much every major pop artist and comedy actor you could imagine. Basically… It’s perfect.

Bless up with the red band trailer for Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping below!
