Exclusive Track Premiere: The Beautiful Monument – “Disorder”

The Beautiful Monument Disorder

When it comes to pummelling post-hardcore that grips you by the ears and thrashes you from wall to wall, it’s hard to look past Melbourne maniacs The Beautiful Monument. Trust us when we say the four-piece are on the verge of a major breakthrough, their skull-crushingly heavy take on pop-punk inescapable, to say the least.

Following up on June 2015’s The Lost EP is three-and-a-half minutes of pure sonic calamity – “Disorder” is equal parts tight and unhinged; upbeat but murderous. Fighting an abrasive tide with powerful, melodic vocal bends, frontwoman Lizi Blanco is no less than show-stopping. Ditto for her bandmates: shredder Andy Skoumbri tears through the mix with relentless bite, drummer Laura Maccormac keeping the double-kick game on lockdown with bassist Shelby Ouston filling in every gap prodigiously.

The track – which The Beautiful Monument say is based on “the feeling of not knowing reality from nightmare” – had its first spin on triple j‘s Short.Fast.Loud. last night, and is met with a music video that captures the essence of the track’s meaning perfectly. It’s hard to believe the clip wasn’t shot on a six-figure budget, too, given its jaw-dropping production.
