The UNIFY 2017 Lineup Is Finally Here, And It’s HUGE
They say the third time’s the charm, but next year’s third round of UNIFY is more like a nugget of gold encrusted in diamond. This shit is fucking massive, yo.
Returning once more to its home of Tarwin Meadows in Gippsland, the overnight heavy music gathering (still Australia’s only) will expand to a two-night format in 2017, sporting two full days and nights of nothing but the frothiest bangers and even frothier tinnies, with a third ‘recovery day’ for you to stock up on market stall goodness and bust out your final games of life-size foosball.
As for that lineup? Look, we’re not saying that UNIFY ’16 didn’t absolutely slay with Parkway Drive in the front seat, or ’15 with The Amity Affliction – it’s just that next year’s jaunt makes the first two instalments look like your average little mosh night at the local PCYC. Making their first appearance in Australia following their on-again-off-again reformation, hardcore icons Alexisonfire take out the headlining slot. If that doesn’t give you any indication that the rest of the lineup is goddamn insane, don’t worry: it is.
Joining the Canadian mosh unit are Brisbane grunge lords Violent Soho and Sydney favourites Northlane, with an enormous 24 names filling out the rest of the bill. The international aspect is given a decent stretch after this year’s run, New York legends Every Time I Die, LA soul punks letlive., British indie shredders Moose Blood and the fellow Canadians in Counterparts filling in the gaps amidst what can only be described as Australia’s best slate of alternative acts.
Don’t believe us? That’s cool, but, like, Thy Art Is Murder showing off their new vocalist, Luca Brasi smashing out jams from their new LP, Storm The Sky turning us into jaded ghosts, House Vs. Hurricane reuniting for a single one-off performance, and Deez Nuts blowing us up with their usual brand of balls-to-the-wall rapcore all sound pretty fucking sweet.
That’s on top of full-album performances from The Getaway Plan (Other Voices, Other Rooms) and I Killed The Prom Queen (Music For The Recently Deceased), and some of the countries best up-and-comers in Bare Bones, Polaris, Justice For The Damned, Ocean Sleeper and Drown This City. All of the recent UNFD signees are dropping by too: Ocean Grove, Columbus and The Brave are all set to tear shit up on the main stage.
Early bird tickets to UNIFY ’17 sold out in 24 hours without a lineup even confirmed – now that we know who we can expect to push our feet to the limits next January, we’d advise not fucking around when general sale tickets go live this Friday.
Tickets on sale this Friday, June 24th.
