Parkway Drive Announce Dates For That Regional Tour You Named
436 ingenious suggestions later, Byron metalcore meccas Parkway Drive have landed on a name for their impending regional tour. At the hand of Justin Fimmel‘s alliterative acuity, the fan-titled All Aussie Adventure will kick off this June.
“We had so many great entries,” says frontman Winston McCall. “Many hours of laughs, which was what we were hoping for. We ended up going with ‘All Aussie Adventure’ because it fit the tour for all the bands playing – Parkway, Make Them Suffer, and the local bands at every stop. Plus, we all love Russell Coight so that gave the entry the winning edge.”
As McCall’s quote alludes, all thirteen of the band’s dates along the roads less travelled will be accompanied by Perth shredders Make Them Suffer. The sextet released their last album, Old Souls, in May 2015. Effortlessly one of last year’s most convulsive hardcore discs, you’ll find no complaints from team BLUNT about them heading off on some more shows.
The tour begins in Cairns on June 15th, hitting Townsville and the Sunshine Coast over the next couple of days before making the trek across Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, Penrith, Wollongong, Sutherland and Albury throughout the rest of June. The first three days of July will see the bands hit Bendigo, Geelong and Frankston – with locals tagging along for every show, of course.
Considering the absolute explosion of hype that Parkway have seen between last year’s Ire and 2012’s Atlas, it’s a tad surprising to see the boys back on the regional strip; after all, it’s much more of a lucrative gig to smash out your tunes in a pyro-set arena. As McCall continues, the decision to revisit their regional roots comes from a mix of fan service and sweet, sweet nostalgia.
“The last time we did a regional run was over three years ago I think, which is far too long,” he says. “We’re stoked to be finally coming back to these towns that we haven’t seen in so long. We have amazing memories of many, many, many wild shows, plus its always great to see how things have grown and changed with time and see the local musical talent that has sprung up since we’ve been away.”
