Cayetana & Camp Cope Team Up For The Indie Punk Co-Headliner Of The Year
We could spend all day, every day for the next week screaming praise from the rooftops, but really, if you haven’t listened to Camp Cope‘s incredible self-titled LP yet, you’re just straight-up missing out. It’s easily one of 2016’s best releases so far – scrappy, raw, and studded with little blemishes, but warm and heartfelt to the point where it’s impossible not to fall in love with it.
Cayetana‘s debut, Nervous Like Me, is a little older – it dropped at the tail end of 2014 – but even after a decent 100 or so plays, it’s still a damn fine slab of punk-y, indie-ish jam material. The Philly girls are making their Australian debut this September for the (enormous) Poison City Weekender, but for those outside of Melbourne, they and Camp Cope are heading off on their own tour.
Unofficially dubbed ‘The Best Indie Punk Co-Headliner Of The Goddamn Decade’, Cayetana and Camp Cope will hit Sydney, Canberra and Wollongong – the formermost also bringing Michigan rockers Pity Sex into the mix – alongside their three theatre dates on Melbourne’s Weekender schedule, and a drop-in at the second I Love Life mini-fest in Brisbane and Sydney.
Alongside being Cayetana’s first gigs on Australian stages, this run is said to be Camp Cope’s last national spread for the year. In a soon-to-be-released interview we did with the legends, they hinted at a sophomore album already in the works, so… Studio time? Maybe? We need to hear a finished version of the ‘hair’ song, like… Yesterday.
