Watch Bring Me The Horizon Play A Blistering Set At Reading Festival
Now we understand how Perth feels every time a “national” tour gets announced. Mere weeks away from the release of their highly anticipated fifth album, That’s The Spirit, Bring Me The Horizon are finally playing the huge main stage slots they were destined for, playing second only to Metallica over the weekend at this year’s Reading Festival in the UK.
As Gigwise reports, the band teased the crowd with a totally serious health and safety notice in the form of a woman saying, “Now we’d like to ask you to open this place up as big as it will go. Pit enforcers, please make yourselves visible now”. And that they did. Kicking off their set with “Happy Song”, the band was met with out-of-control circle pits that were enough to rival our out-of-control jealousy at being stuck on the other side of the globe.
The Sheffield crew showcased new cuts “Throne” and “Drown”, whilst also showing off frontman Oli Sykes’ impressive vocal chops in a set that’s been touted as one of the highlights of the weekend.
As if our FOMO wasn’t already bad enough, Reading also saw recently reformed post-hardcore kings Alexisonfire dominating the same stage earlier in the afternoon. Bringing a mosh uncharacteristically angry for a bunch of Canadians, The Only Band Ever proved that despite three years on from their farewell shows (*sniff*), they haven’t lost their touch.
With both Bring Me The Horizon and Alexisonfire among the many rumoured to be making an appearance at next year’s Soundwave Festival, it looks like we’ll have to save our throw downs for January instead.
