Watch A New Video Of The Ghost Inside’s Andrew Tkaczyk Returning To The Kit

TGI-main4

It’s been a long road to recovery for The Ghost Inside, but the Californian metalcore mainstays aren’t letting anything stand in their way. Last November, the band’s tour collided with a semi-trailer in an accident that killed the drivers of both vehicles, and caused extensive injuries to all members of the band. Coming up to six months later, and the band are making incredible progress, from frontman Jonathan Vigil learning to walk again, to drummer Andrew Tkaczyk getting back behind the kit after losing a leg.

Tkaczyk’s return to the drums is a massive step forward for the musician, and as such, a new professionally-shot video of his first time back in action has been released. The mini-doco-of-sorts comes courtesy of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, and features a drop-in from the drummer’s mum. In addition, Tkaczyk has penned a blog post on Mary Free Bed’s site detailing his recovery.

“My attitude from the beginning has been ‘no looking back.'” he wrote. “I’m focused. I’m starting to walk and play drums again. My head is in the game.”

Just last week, Tkaczyk made another enormous stride to better health, walking for the first time without rail supports. While the band are still a fair while off from returning to the stage, they’re committed to making the leap in – if not before – 2017, with the recent announcement that they’ll be a part of next year’s Vans Warped Tour. They’ve also added Texas In July’s Chris Davis to their squad, recruiting him as a second guitarist after he toured with the band in 2015.

Of course, The Ghost Inside are still in dire need of monetary support to cover their ridiculous hospital bills, thanks to the dismal state of the United State’s healthcare system. If you’d like to pitch in a dollar or two (every cent helps!) they’re accepting donations over on their Gofundme page. Recently, Warped Tour organisers announced that all proceeds from their ultimate VIP packages will be going to the boys.
