Violent Soho Can’t Be Stopped; Announce November Tour Dates
Nope, it’s not just your phat Tuesday morning rip of super sour screwing with your head: Violent Soho have just announced an honest-to-goddamn arena tour, and it is abso-fucking-lutely massive!
Following a 100% sold out theatre tour (most cities of which saw dates doubled after the first shows sold out in seconds) back in May, the Brisvegas grunge-punks have decided they’re ready to step things up a notch: come October, they’ll be hitting venues like the 9,500-capacity Riverstage in Brisbane – not exactly where you’d expect to catch a local band. Over the course of just a week, they’ll make their way through Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth as well.
Joining the blokes for all dates of the run are Californian punk legends The Bronx, who were last seen on Aussie shores back in April ’15, where they performed with their Latin alter-ego: Mariachi El Bronx. Tassie chillcore crew Luca Brasi and Perth indie rockers Tired Lion are also tagging along for the ride, because it wouldn’t be a Soho tour without a handful of damn near perfect special guests.
“We are truly honoured to have The Bronx on board for these shows,” say Violent Soho. “There is no band in the world that can put on such a high energy performance the way that these guys do. As a band, we have always looked up to them a hell of a lot. Our friendship goes back over 10 years so to have our big Bros from the USA come all the way across the Pacific to play with us again means the world.
“Luca Brasi can also be held in the same esteem. For us, they are probably Australia’s best punk rock band by a long shot. And to have this line up complimented by such a class act as Tired Lion just puts the icing on the cake for what is going to be one epic fucking tour. Really, we are just so stoked!”
Violent Soho made waves earlier this year when they dropped WACO on us like a nuclear bomb: with such soul-snatching jams as “Viceroy” and “So Sentimental”, it’s really no surprise the quartet’s fourth studio LP came in at #1 on the ARIA Charts, and went on to achieve the kind of reviews that make ‘critical acclaim’ sound like an insult (including a perfect 5/5 score from BLUNT, no less).
