The Ghost Inside Involved In Serious Bus Accident
It hasn’t been a good week for the music community to say the least. Reports came in early this morning that metalcore heroes The Ghost Inside have been involved in a fatal car accident.
The band were travelling from Texas to Phoenix as part of the Locals Only tour when their tour bus collided with a semi-trailer outside of El Paso, Texas. A CBS journalist reported that the accident took place “a few miles east of the US Border Patrol checkpoint on US 62/180”.
Jay Ivie, a trucker who was on the scene, claimed that the accident was the “worst he’d seen”, and he witnessed three of the band’s members being pulled from the wreckage.
According to news reports, one of the two people killed in the accident was the band’s tour bus driver, Gregory Hoke, as well as the driver of the semi-trailer, Steven Cunningham. A GoFundMe page, which has been set up to cover The Ghost Inside’s medical costs and damaged equipment, has so far raised over $33,000.
The Ghost Inside have since issued a statement on their Facebook page letting fans know that the band and crew are alive and being treated for their injuries, and that they’ve regrettably had to cancel all US shows on the Locals Only tour. A bunch of your favourite bands, from Parkway to Real Friends, have also extended their sympathies. We’d like to wish everyone involved a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with those who lost their lives.
UPDATE 1: As reported by KFOX14, members Jonathan Vigil, Andrew Tkaczykt, and Zach Johnson have sustained serious injuries in the crash and were airlifted to hospital where they are said to be in critical condition.
UPDATE 2: While you were sleeping, rock heavyweights Bring Me The Horizon proved themselves to be the ultimate legends and donated a whopping $10,000 to The Ghost Inside’s GoFundMe page. As if that weren’t enough of a gold star for the alternative music community, Architects, In Hearts Wake and You Me At Six’s Josh Franceschi have also contributed to the cause.
Please send your positive vibes to @theghostinside. We hope everything is okay with you guys
