Refused + Sick Of It All + High Tension Announce 2017 Tour
It seems like only yesterday that we were campaigning our goddamn hearts out to bring legendary hardcore punks Refused to our shores after an unfathomably long time away. In 2012 the Swedes proved they weren’t fucking dead and announced a string of shows across the country, much to the delight of those whose formative years were soundtracked by 1998’s boundary-breaking The Shape Of Punk To Come.
Four years on and with a new record under their belts, Dennis Lyxzén and co. have seen fit to visit our shows once more, with hardcore icons Sick Of It All (celebrating their 30th anniversary no less) and local bruisers High Tension getting in on the mayhem.
The tour is set to hit Brisbane on January 20th, before passing through Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne, and wrapping things up in Fremantle on the 26th.
With a couple of BLUNT staffers having recently taken in the band’s blistering set at this year’s Hellfest Open Air Festival in France – complete with Lyxzén’s impassioned speech about gender inequality in music – we can assure you that after nearly three decades together, they possess more energy on stage than we’ve probably ever had in our lives.
“It’s not a reunion anymore,” Lyxzen insists. “This is one of the most radical things we’ve ever done.”
Tickets are on sale Wednesday July 13th @ 9am.
