Northlane + In Hearts Wake Team Up For Co-Headlined “Equinox” Tour
What could be better than a Northlane or In Hearts Wake headline tour? Both? A co-headliner? How about a tour that sees both of the metalcore mainstays battling it out onstage at the same goddamn time? Taking to triple j to give our arvo a serious shot of hype, that’s exactly what Northy axeman Josh Smith and IHW screamer Jake Taylor just spilled the beans on.
Fittingly dubbed The Equinox Tour (equal day; equal night), the five-date capital city run will see the Sydney ambientcore shredders team up with Bryon’s earthiest and heaviest for a show unlike anything either band have ever delivered – amongst “many (many) more surprises to be revealed”, both vocalists will make appearances in each other’s sets to scream atop their biggest hits. The tour will hit Perth first on June 10th, before rolling through Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
“As our paths have crossed over the years the timing is finally right to embark on a co-headline tour that we’ve dreamt up together,” says Taylor. “It’s hard to think that it all started in a ghetto garage many years ago and here we are now.”
Unsurprisingly, Smith is equally stoked. “We always want to be on the road with those guys, but I think the fact that we’re both now in a pretty similar stage in our career makes it the right time to do something like this in Australia,” he vibes. “I can’t contain my excitement for this tour. We’ve never done anything like it before and who better to be doing it with than our best mates. I’ll cherish the memories of this tour forever.”
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Northlane or In Hearts Wake tour without some killer opening acts. Melbourne up-and-comers Ocean Grove are set to kick the all-Aussie lineup into play, and main support on all dates will come from Canberran experimental rockers Hands Like Houses.
Northlane released their third LP, Node, in the middle of last year to a #1 debut on the ARIA Charts, taking home the award for Best Hard Rock / Metal Album later in the year, just narrowly edging out In Hearts Wake’s third effort, Skydancer. Released just a few months earlier, that dropped in at #2, and saw the band embark on a completely sold out theatre tour – much the same as Northlane’s solo run last November.
