No “Bad Blood” As Guitarist Leaves Melbourne Punks Clowns
Last night Clowns’ Joe Hansen announced via his personal Facebook page that he would be leaving the band to pursue other interests. Hansen stressed that there was no “bad blood” (geddit?) between the band members, cherishing the fact that he got to put out two full-lengths (their 2013 debut I’m Not Right, and this year’s Bad Blood) through Poison City Records and play 200 shows across Australia, New Zealand, China, Indonesia and the US.
The Melbourne punks are currently in the midst of a three-month national tour with local mates Summer Blood, playing the ninth annual Cherry Rock Festival this Sunday at Cherry Bar alongside Red Fang, The Shrine, Beastwars, Horsehunter and a slew of others. Clowns have also been announced for this year’s Poison City Weekender Fest, hitting up some iconic Melbourne venues over the first weekend in September with The Smith Street Band, Modern Baseball, The Bennies and more.
We’ll miss Hansen’s searing riffs, but with any luck this line-up change won’t slow the band down any.
