Modern Baseball Pull Out Of Australian Tour Due To Health Problems
In an open letter published on their Facebook, Modern Baseball have announced that they’re cancelling all upcoming shows, including Reading & Leeds in the UK and our own Poison City Weekender. Written by frontman Brendan Lukens, the emotional letter discusses his ongoing struggles with anxiety and depression, and that “after the last few months it’s evident that it’s time to put everything else aside to focus on making steps towards positive mental health.”
Poison City have also released a statement, saying that they “fully understand the seriousness and importance of mental health and wish Brendan and (the band) all the best as they take the first positive steps on a difficult road.” They’ve also noted that, “All planned co-headline shows with Iron Chic will still be happening with replacement from Self Defense Family, Apart From This and Postblue on various dates. Optional ticket refunds for select dates will be available from point of purchase.”
It’s estimated that roughly 45% of Australians will experience mental illness, with around one million adults suffering from depression and almost two million suffering from anxiety per year. If you are also suffering from mental health issues and need some support, Beyond Blue, Lifeline Australia and SANE are just a few of the many services ready to help you.
