Jason Butler Climbs Stage At Chicago Open Air; Still A Liability For Venue Owners Everywhere

Jason Butler

Balls of steel: letlive. vocalist Jason Butler has them. Anyone who’s caught the LA post-hardcore band live can attest to the fact that Butler can – and will – climb any stage, balcony, speaker stack or scaffolding in sight. He might even throw in a flip or ten. Put simply, he’s a venue owner’s worst nightmare, but damned if his antics don’t make for a captivating live performance.

In classic Butler style, the frontman scaled the stage at this year’s Chicago Open Air Festival over the weekend exclaiming, “I can see home from here!” He then went right back to performing the band’s hit, “Renegade 86’”, like it ain’t no thing to be teetering atop a stage structure a couple dozen metres above the crowd.

Aussie fans will get to witness Jason “Loose Unit” Butler in all his stage-climbing glory at next year’s UNIFY Gathering in country Victoria, along with the latest and greatest cuts from letlive.’s new album, If I’m The Devil…

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: helluva frontman.

Watch Jason Butler perform “Renegade 86’” from on top of the stage at Chicago Open Air Festival.
