Deftones Release New Single “Prayers / Triangles”

Deftones

So we know that seminal alt-metallers Deftones will be gifting us with their eighth studio album on April 8th, and back in November we had word that Gore was recorded and ready to mix. Just in time for the weekend we’ve now been given our first taste of what’s to come with new single “Prayers / Triangles”.

The track was premiered on Zane Lowe’s World Record via Apple Music and features a quick interview with frontman Chino Moreno about the choice to make “Prayers / Triangles” the band’s lead single and the state of Deftones in 2016. Moreno talks of the dichotomy that’s always been a hallmark of the band, with parts that go at your throat whilst still maintaining a soothing quality.

After 2012’s stellar Koi No Yokan, which has been touted as a “beautiful bludgeoning”, the quintet have been experiencing a hell of a renaissance in the eyes of critics and fans alike more than two decades into their career.

With Soundwave bowing out ahead of this year’s proposed dates, we’re hoping that Deftones still find a way to make it to our shores before the year is out.
