Deafheaven Unleash New Track “Brought To The Water”
Injecting us with a much-needed dose of mid-week mayhem, Californian black metallers Deafheaven just dropped their new single “Brought To The Water”, an atmospheric rollercoaster of blistering black metal, smoky shoegaze and powerful post-rock. The eight-and-a-half minute mind-melter serves as the first taste of the band’s upcoming third album, New Bermuda, set for release this October.
Speaking about the track, vocalist George Clarke explains, “We wanted to share ‘Brought To The Water’ first because it gives a good idea of the overall sonic tone of the record and really evokes feelings that come with uprooting and throwing oneself into the complacent, monotonous routine of adulthood.”
The follow-up to 2013’s heavily acclaimed Sunbather, New Bermuda was recorded live to tape with frequent collaborator and studio all-rounder Jack Shirley, and marks the band’s most outgoing work to date. With his sights set on whisking the listener away to another dimension, Clark says that the new album came from an idea to describe “a new destination in life, a nebulous point of arrival, and an unknown future where things get swallowed up and dragged into darkness.” Count us in.
New Bermuda is out October 2 through Epitaph.
