Crossfaith Unleash New Song; Announce New Album ‘Xeno’
Crossfaith, otherwise known as our favourite purveyors of jägercore, have just unleashed the title track from their recently announced fourth studio album, Xeno. We’ve always held a soft spot for the Japanese metallers, possibly due to the fact that they’ve been really good sports every time we’ve subjected them to a game of Jäger Pong or a round of bogan sushi (which you can check out above) in the name of a BLUNT photo spread. More accurately though, they’ve spent the past few years busting their chops to make it in the Western market and have logged some serious global tour miles in the process.
Currently doing a lap of the US on the travelling summer circus that is the Vans Warped Tour, Crossfaith have given us the first taste of their new anime and manga-inspired album. “Xeno” slots in as one of the band’s strongest releases to date and incorporates more of the clean vocals they first toyed with on 2013’s Apocalyze. Coupled with some world class production from Josh Wilbur (Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb Of God, Hatebreed), it’s certainly piqued our interest for what’s to come.
“This record is dedicated to everyone because we believe it will make a new phase in this music culture,” said frontman Kenta Koie. “We had a bad time after we released the last album Apocalyze. Our original guitarist Kazuki had to leave during a tour due to a cerebral hemorrhage; it was the worst thing to happen to us in our entire music career. Fortunately or unfortunately, it just affected his left hand. He is still alive, he never gave up as a musician and he wrote a couple songs for this record as well. It has bound us together as one. The experience of working with Josh Wilbur means a lot to us. He brought us fresh feelings and has helped us to create our best record to date. We put everything we’ve got into Xeno and it is the most important and precious thing to us. We can’t wait to share the experience of Xeno. It is beating, it is alive! We are dedicating this record to everyone!”
Xeno is out September 18 through UNFD.
