Cog Announce East Coast Tour; Melbourne Show Already Sold Out
Things we learnt today: prog fans don’t muck around. Within hours of announcing a four-date east coast tour, returning Aussie legends Cog have already sold out their Melbourne show at 170 Russell.
The upcoming tour marks the first live shows for the trio in over five-and-a-half years after they put the band on ice in 2010 – drummer Lucius Borich even claimed that the band’s December 22nd show of that year would be “the last time you’ll ever see us all together”. Judging by the response from fans to today’s announcement, the boys have been missed.
Since their inception in 1998, Cog have been at the forefront of the Aussie prog rock scene and made a name for themselves through extensive touring and their by-all-accounts epic live shows. Whether today’s announcement means we’ll get to see a follow-up to 2007’s Sharing Space is anyone’s guess, but we’re thinking we’re not the only ones curious to know what the 2016 incarnation of Cog sounds like on disc.
We’ve already had word that Brisbane, Byron Bay and Sydney tickets are shifting fast, so if you’re at all partial to the likes of Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus or The Butterfly Effect, snap up a pass before it’s too late. Their live show is the stuff of legends.
