Boys Of Summer Tour 2013!

Alright, time to add another gig to the “miss this and you’ll be goddamn kicking yourself” list. Everyone’s favourite summer tour is back and it’s bigger and better than ever. Deez Nuts, Comeback Kid, First Blood, Hand Of Mercy and The Bride all on the one bill? You’d better believe it, baby. Though For The Fallen Dreams had to pull out of their trip Down Under this month, San Francisco’s First Blood are here to save the day and plug the gap on what’s already a stellar line-up.

Deez Nuts is the brainchild of JJ Peters, started after I Killed The Prom Queen originally split in 2008. Equally influenced by hardcore and hip-hop, the brash combination has made Deez Nuts one of the most notorious bands in hardcore. The band has just finished up work on their third full-length, Bout It due out this March. Arguably their most diverse work to date, the album was recorded earlier this year with Shane Frisby (Bury Your Dead, The Ghost Inside) and features Freddy Cricien (Madball), Sam Carter (Architects) and Jon Blake (On Broken Wings) among others.

Since dropping their debut full-length Turn It Around back in 2003, Comeback Kid have been an undeniable staple of the hardcore community. From there they released the classic Wake The Dead, changed vocalists on Broadcasting and then released the brilliant Symptoms + Cures in 2010. This is a record that the band states is the pinnacle of their cumulative output: gang vocals, half-time bridges and tastefully placed breakdowns. Righteous.

Formed in 2002, San Fran’s legendary First Blood set out to create straight-forward and crushing metal-edged hardcore with a pissed off and in-your-face message. 2010 saw First Blood release their highly-anticipated sophomore album Silence Is Betrayal and since then the band have been on the road peddling the 15 tracks of musical devastation and lyrical condemnation that have made them a band at the pinnacle of the hardcore genre.

For Hand Of Mercy, it has been a long road to success. Having started out in 2007, the band has endured relentless touring and self-released their records all in the pursuit of perfecting their craft. The end result was getting signed to UNFD and releasing their latest album, Last Lights. It just goes to show, for those who work hard on their own terms, success comes in the end and every little bit of it is deserved.

Also joining this already huge package will be Western Sydney’s metalcore overlords The Bride. Having formed in 2006, the band cycled through line-up changes and releases before dropping 2011’s acclaimed President Road full-length on UNFD. Having always toured as much as humanly possible over the years with the likes of Confession, Thy Art Is Murder, Deez Nuts and Wish For Wings, the band will bring their youthful edge and energetic take on heavy music to the Boys Of Summer proceedings.

Spanning the US, Canada and right here in Oz, this one’s a line-up that’s bound to get mosh pits pumping, arms flailing and have bodies dripping with sweat. For those of you still not convinced, The Bride have dropped the news that these 11 shows will be their final shows together as they have decided to bid fans adieu and go their separate ways come the tour’s last stop in Adelaide.
