So it turns out the photo of the Weird Al look-alike throwing the horns in a bin marked “Metal” isn’t the most metal thing we’ve seen this week.

In what’s both a touching and brutal turn of events, extreme metal bands Behemoth and Dying Fetus have honoured a late fan’s final wish and scattered his ashes onstage during their recent tours.

At Behemoth’s April 29 show in Chicago, frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski addressed the crowd before “Antichristian Phenomenon” and said, “I have never done this before. Our friend and massive Behemoth fan… His name was Nick. All I’ve got to say is, wherever you are, rest in peace my friend”.

David Rich, who shared the YouTube video below, said, “I take Nick’s ashes with me every show that I go to so that he is there with me and at shows that he’s missing out on. I love you Nick. Thank you so much Adam Nergal for doing this I couldn’t have been happier. I appreciate this more then [sic] you know.”

Nick’s favourite Dying Fetus song was said to be “Homicidal Retribution”, so the band scattered his ashes in the pit during the track. What a heart-warmingly morbid moment for all involved.
