Asking Alexandria Announce Australian Headline Tour
With a new vocalist, a new sound, and soon enough, a new album, Asking Alexandria are hardly the same band that we saw tear shit up at Soundwave 2014. The past year has been an especially turbulent one for the metalcore maniacs, thanks in no short part to the surprise departure of former frontman Danny Worsnop, who ditched his bandmates to focus on We Are Harlot back in January. Fears were initially rampant over whether the Englishmen could survive without their bearded brother in tow, but with Denis Stoff having absolutely killed it so far, those fears have been stepped on and squashed like a pumpkin in a push pit.
As 2016 looks to be an even bigger year for the fervent five-piece, we sit idle, anxiously awaiting the announcement that Asking Alexandria II: Melodic Boogaloo will sail ashore our sunny little island with a handful or two of breakdowns and blast-beats… Well, it’s officially happening. Hot off the presses, the band have announced a six-date trek across Australia this coming April, with a drop-in for our Kiwi friends as well. After letting loose in Auckland on April 5th, they’ll make their way through Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Sydney for not only their first Australian tour with Stoff behind the mic, but their first ever headline tour Down Under.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this tour,” gushes founding guitarist and current frontman Ben Bruce. “We are back and we truly are better than ever. This tour is going to be absolutely insane and we can’t wait to see you all out there. See you soon.”
The quintet are currently in the process of smashing out their fourth studio album, a follow-up to 2013’s From Death To Destiny set for release in the early months of 2016. A solid release date is still a short while away, but fans can expect to hear a stack of new tunes at the upcoming shows, with a solid chance that the LP will drop sometime between now and April. So far, two singles have been released from the as yet untitled record – “I Won’t Give In” (below) and “Undivided”.
Rounding out the bill for these mammoth shows are Blessthefall and Buried In Verona, two bands that may start with the letter ‘B’, but never fail to bring their ‘A’ game (this writer sincerely does not apologise for that god-awful joke). Having released their fifth album – To Those Left Behind – this September to near unanimous acclaim, Phoenix shredders Blessthefall are sure to bring with them an unfailing elation of fists, riffs, and a shitload of pits. Buried In Verona are a similar beast, their latest record Vultures Above, Lions Below proving that even the most withered of bands have the power to make a shining comeback.
