Watch Enter Shikari Crush It With A Live Video Of “Redshift”
It would seems that Enter Shikari are intent on making all of us at BLUNT HQ wind up in an ICU. All the way back in January, the UK electropunks took things down a notch with their swervy, vibe-heavy new single “Redshift” – you wouldn’t think the tune would wind up being one of the biggest moments in their already fuckoff massive live show, but, lo and behold, a new clip filmed at their recent show in London has proved to us otherwise.
The show – which went down at the legendary Alexandra Palace – was Enter Shikari’s biggest headline gig to date. Plans were in place to release the entire performance in full, but as fate would have it, technology fucking sucks and much of the footage was destroyed. In the words of frontman Rou Reynolds:
“After such a spectacle, we decided to cobble together and edit the footage from the jumbotrons on the night. Unfortunately a lot of the crowd footage was warped and unusable, but we were only able to put together one great track rather a whole show, but we hope this’ll give yous an idea of the energy on the night.
“As I edited the video, Rory and our engineer / foxy hunk Tim Morris edited the audio too.Being such a DIY tour – programming the video screen content and 4.1 surround sound mix ourselves, for example – it seems only right and proper that we apply that approach to the documentation of the show too. Victory snatched from the jaws of defeat, and all that.”
Full audio of the show does exist, however, and the band have teased that a release is imminent. Considering this tour’s setlist is easily one of their best, we wouldn’t turn down the offer of a new installment in the Bootleg series.
Enter Shikari are set to return Down Under this September for a run of headline shows with rap-djent rousers Hacktivist and local shred unit Stories – they’ll hit Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth from the 19th to the 24th, taking over some of our more intimate venues in a change of pace that probably test the mettle of any First Aid crew unfortunate enough to be rostered on the nights.
It’s teased that the band will be demoing new material over the next couple of months, so here’s to hoping we can soak in some new jams of our own.
