The Amity Affliction’s New Single Has Landed
For those of you that saw the #ShineOnYoungLove hashtag making its way around the ‘net, all has officially been revealed. Your boys The Amity Affliction penned a cheeky new single whilst they were on this year’s Warped Tour in the States, and after premiering it yesterday afternoon on triple j, the song, “Shine On”, is now available for your listening pleasure. From the haunting children’s choir that opens the track through to frontman Joel Birch’s guttural growls, this is more of the token Amity sound we’ve all come to know and love. Speaking with triple j yesterday, Birch had this to say about the new track.
“We wrote it on Warped Tour and recorded a very, very rough demo in the back of the bus. We had [producer] Will Putney, the same guy that did Let The Ocean Take Me, come out [and] spend five days in the studio doing pre-production and then fixing it up and tightening the song.”
In news that’s bound to get you all stoked on 2016, Birch also revealed that the band have “about 15 songs written so far” which they’re looking to track in January, with the album looking to be completed – “mixed and everything” – as early as April. “We’ll just have to sit on it, I guess,” Birch quipped.
They’re yet to test out the new track live, but it’s a pretty safe bet that if you start committing the lyrics to memory now, you’ll get the chance to scream them back at the band when they land here next month for the Big Ass Tour with A Day To Remember, The Ghost Inside and Motionless In White. With Papa Birch and his missus expecting a child in the coming months, this looks like it’ll be your last chance to catch Amity on home turf for a while.
