Polaris Release Huge New Single, “Hold You Under”

We love the smell of new music in the new year. Bastardised Apocalypse Now quotes aside, your boys Polaris have gone and pulled out a massive new metalcore track to start 2016 off right.

Last we heard from the band, they were announcing their forthcoming EP, The Guilt & The Grief, and getting set to premiere a new single on triple j’s Home & Hosed with Dom Alessio. If you didn’t happen to be within earshot of a radio, the good news is that “Hold You Under” – an at once melodic and heavy gem featuring none other than Northlane’s Marcus Bridge – is now available on YouTube for your ~listening pleasure~.

“That title just seemed to have some tie to every track on the record – whether the sentiments of the song were being directed inward, or outward as is the case with the couple of political songs on the EP,” says drummer Daniel Furnari of The Guilt & The Grief. “Then on that personal level, as you might guess, there’s a lot of questioning, a lot of self-doubt and regret and blame. But there’s a strange kind of optimism in there too, a desire and a drive to be a better person even if you don’t yet know how.”

Immerse yourself in the new track and if you like what you hear, put a small chunk of your Soundwave fund to good use and head along to one of Polaris’ shows with Stories, Belle Haven and Perspectives. See you in the pit.
