Pity Sex Announce Indefinite Hiatus; Drop New Music Video As Parting Gift
‘Tis a pity (fight me, that pun is gold) – after a cripplingly short five-year tenure, Michigan indie-punks Pity Sex have thrown in the towel. The news comes after founding guitarist and co-vocalist Britty Drake left the band in August, just a month before they kicked off their Australian – and, aside from a few dates in the US and a UK run, last – tour.
Pity Sex released two albums: 2013’s Feast Of Love and this year’s White Hot Moon. Both records – released via Run For Cover and brought to life in Australia by Cooking Vinyl – received almost unanimous acclaim for their gauzy, yet hard-hitting musical style and mind-frying vocal melodies.
To ring their span out on a high note, the band have released a music video for “Burden You”. The tune itself is a moodier cut from Pity Sex’s second LP, showcasing Drake in the lead with its accompanying clip conjured up by indie studio PlayLab, Inc.
