Neck Deep Recruit Blink-182 And Dashboard Confessional For New Versions Of “December”

neck deep

It won’t be long before Neck Deep are leading the pop-punk scene: last year’s Life’s Not Out To Get You was one of the genre’s best in recent times, and their Aussie shows back in January proved that they know how to fucking slaughter it live.

As part of their transitional period into full world domination, the Welsh bois have recruited Blink-182 frontdude Mark Hoppus and Dashboard Confessional feels-master Chris Carrabba to lay some vocals down on two new versions of Necky’s cut “December”. Both remixes come together to form a two-part music video that you probably shouldn’t watch at work – it’s not NSFW or anything, it’s just… Really fucking emo. Especially the Carrabba version – goddamn, son.

“December is based on a scenario I found myself in a few years ago – an ex-girlfriend totally fucked me over, and left me out in the cold trying to figure out what was going on,” says frontman Ben Barlow. “The song is essentially a story about that relationship, a mentally apathetic take on how it all went down, where I essentially blamed myself.

“To have Mark and Chris featuring on each version of the track is wild, seeing as they’re huge—if not some of the biggest—musical influences for us. The different versions of the track are pretty fitting for the pair of them, and their voices really lend something extra to it all. It’s pretty surreal to be hearing our idols on a track of ours. We all had a moment listening back just thinking ‘What the fuck, how are Mark Hoppus and Chris Carrabba on a Neck Deep track?’ Surreal.”

A limited run 7” will be released for the new single, featuring both remixes of “December” and a full album download of Life’s Not Out To Get You. It also comes with a sick t-shirt, so for $27, we’d call it a pretty sweet bargain. You know what to do (pre-order).
