Exclusive EP Stream: Us The Band – But Where Do They Go
We love a bit of scrappy DIY punk here at BLUNT HQ, especially when we see a local band casually dropping Cloud Nothings and Hüsker Dü as their prime influences. Sydney duo Us The Band deal in fast and to-the-point lo-fi garage punk; the kind of tunes that even Henry Rollins would – and does – dig, having given the band’s track “Fallout” a spin on his KCRW program.
Here in Australia, the band have found a home with indie label Rice Is Nice, who have assured us they’re keen to find and release some more short, fast, loud punk straight outta Oz. Last year Us The Band impressed all the right people at BIGSOUND, even managing to get on NME’s radar in the UK who were taken by their “infernally jacked-up racket”. You probably haven’t heard of them, but we won’t hold it against you.
Earlier this week the guys debuted their DIY vid for “Ghoul” over on Rolling Stone, and we’re getting total Ramones-meets-a-snotty-Royal-Headache vibes. Before the EP’s official release tomorrow, Rice Is Nice have been kind enough to hook us up with a full stream. And since we’re fairly nice folks, we’re sharing it with all of you. Do yourselves a favour and play this one LOUD.
